Het nieuws rond Phil Ivey in de afgelopen maanden na Black Friday is over het algemeen niet al te rooskleurig en veelal een samenraapsel van meningen en geruchten over de beste pokerspeler ter wereld.

Het laatste nieuws is dat Phil Ivey niet langer alimentatie betaald aan Luciaetta Ivey, zijn voormalige echtgenote van wie hij in 2009 scheidde. Twee jaar later wordt de zaak nu weer opgerakeld omdat zij er achter is gekomen dat Ivey kort na de rechtszaak $5.000,- heeft overgemaakt naar het campagnefonds voor de herverkiezing van familierechter Bill Gonzalez. Gonzalez was de rechter van dienst toen de twee voormalige tortelduifjes middels een vechtscheiding uit elkaar gingen. Nu is daar niets illegaals aan maar curieus is het wel.

Nu Luciaetta geen alimentatie meer ontvangt heeft zij dan ook een aanklacht ingediend tegen de gang van zaken toentertijd middels een: "affidavit of implied bias or prejudice compleint"

De alimentatie was enkel gebaseerd op het inkomen van Phil Ivey uit de onderneming Tiltware, de moedermaatschappij van Full Tilt Poker. Phils advocaat, David Chesnoff zegt dat Ivey niet langer hoefde te betalen vanwege zijn vertrek uit Tiltware en de $150 miljoen schadeclaim aan het adres van Full Tilt Poker: "permitted Phil to cease doing so as he was no longer receiving income from one of the businesses."

Scott Matusow: "Ivey may be broke"

Tot zo ver de "feiten". Het bovenstaande nieuws was voor Scott Matusow, de broer van Mike Matusow, genoeg aanleiding om Phil Ivey broke te verklaren zijn blog:

"It appears the rumor mill might be correct, that Ivey "may be" broke. Do I feel bad? Hell no!! I do feel bad for his ex-wife, but she should have known she was possibly marrying a gambling degenerate. Rumor has it that Ivey owes at least one casino, 10 million dollars. Perhaps Ivey should have thought twice before raising that lawsuit against FTP, in which sources tell me that action chased away an investor who allegedly had an oral deal in place with FTP."

Scott Matusow

Waar Scott Matusow überhaupt mee bezig is, is voor velen een raadsel. Na de blog over Phil Ivey schreef hij ook een blog waarin hij zijn broer met de grond gelijk maakt:

Mike, I have said what I have said, and done what I have done because I am sick of your disrespect, belittling your own family to impress strangers. Not only publicly have you said "Ivey is a piece of shit" which can be verified from old Quad Jacks podcasts, but you have told me that as well, that he messed up the FTP deal with his lawsuit. My blog did not attack Ivey in such a manner, but rather the type of character Ivey is, a degenerate. With all the problems in the world today, people being booted from their homes, being cheated, losing their jobs.

I see you getting worse and worse with your gambling issues. We went out for our parents anniversary 2 weeks ago.. The entire time, all you could talk about was yourself, your bets, checking the scores on games. You do not consider how you hurt Mom and Dad with your behavior. You seem to enjoy to call Mom only to tell her when you lose, and you exaggerate your losses to her... That is sick Mike, do you enjoy upsetting our mother?

My biggest issue with you Mike is your horrid betrayal of your own family.. you consistently take the side of strangers and go out of your way to belittle your own blood in their eyes.. Until yesterday, I have kept quiet about this stuff for the most part because I did not want to mess up your deal with FTP... Don't call Mom and lie to her and say I am costing your deals.. You are costing yourself deals by your own admission. You have turned down many deals that your agent got for you, refused to work with people, showing up late or completely missing engagements all together. Enough with your lame excuses and lack of personal responsibility for your actions and lack of action.
