PokerStars heeft er weer een tour bij de BPT: Brasil Poker Tour. Voor seizoen 1 staan er drie toernooien gepland en de eerste begint in juli in Sao Paulo.

Naar het schijnt is er in Brazilië een klein pokerboometje aan de gang. Zowel live als online zijn de Zuid Amerikanen steeds vaker te vinden aan de pokertafels.

PokerStars had al twee stops in Brazilië met de Latin American Poker Tour: Florianopolis en Sao Paulo, maar nu is het tijd voor een eigen tour in het land met 190 miljoen inwoners.

"The creation of the BPT is a natural step for developing poker in Brazil. The number of poker players grows every day and we see increased participation of Brazilians in tournament across the world," aldus LAPT president David Carrion. "Therefore Brazil is the natural choice to become the first country in the region with an exclusive poker circuit. We expect players from neighboring countries and all over the world to participate," zo gaat hij verder.

Team PokerStars Pro André Akkari ziet de komst van de BPT als een belangrijke stap voorwaards: "It's very important to receive a new countrywide tournament like the BPT. It helps poker to grow as a sport and to bring home more players each time. With the proposed buy-in, the quality of players also increases and it will be more challenging."

De eerste stop wordt gehouden in het Transamericana Hotel in Sao Paulo op 21 juli. Het main event heeft een buy-in van R$ 2.300 wat neerkomt op $1.446 / €1.014. Er zullen ook nog 4 side events gehouden worden.

Begin oktober stopt de BPT in Florianopolis, wanneer het derde event (Grand Final) wordt gehouden is nog niet bekend.
