PokerStars heeft besloten om zich terug te trekken als sponsor van het aanstaande North American Poker Tour event in de Bicycle Casino in Los Angeles. Dit in verband met een dispuut met de gaming authoriteiten uit Californië.

Het event zou gehouden worden van 5 tot en met 12 maart, maar zal nu 'The Big Event' heten. Het is dus ook niet een officiële stop in de NAPT meer al zijn de medewerkers van PokerStars wel aanweizg. 

"The North American Poker Tour L.A. event scheduled for March 5th to 12th at the Bicycle Casino in Los Angeles, California will proceed as planned, but not as an NAPT event. The NAPT and the Bicycle Casino reached the voluntary decision to hold the event without branding after constructive discussions with California gaming regulators," aldus een woordvoerder van PokerStars.

PokerStars sluit niet uit dat zij in de toekomst wel in Californië een event houden. In een verklaring op de website staat te lezen: "Both the NAPT and the Bicycle Casino look forward to working with California regulatory authorities as they consider the branding of such events in the future." 

De NAPT bestaat nu uit twee stops: de PokerStars Caribbean Adventure die in januari is gespeeld en de Mohegun Sun van 9 tot en met 13 april.
