Phill Hellmuth heeft met 11 bracelets nog steeds de meeste en is deze series op zoek naar nummer 12. Hij was er afgelopen week even dicht bij in het $1500 PLO Hi/Lo event maar strandde op een 12e plaats. Tot zijn ongenoegen natuurlijk:

"This seems so unfair, did you see how they played? I played only seven hands during the day and three times I bumped into aces. It shouldn't happen. I played splendid poker, better than ever, and that's why being eliminated felt very unfair.

"Phil Ivey just won a bracelet. Congrats to him. This is all about competition between us. One day he may beat me in the amount of WSOP bracelets, but not yet as I myself still have 11 bracelets."

"Ivey may leave me behind, but that won't happen before I have 17 or 18 bracelets. So this competition between Ivey and me is about 20 won bracelets."

Afgelopen week had Phil weer een ouderwets Hellmuth moment, ondanks zijn mindset coaching van afgelopen jaar, toen Devilfish hem uitschakelde in een PLO event.

Devilfish opent preflop vanaf de cut-off met pot naar 21.000 en Hellmuth callde vanaf de big blind. Flop en Hellmuth checked, Devilfish kijkt nog eens naar zijn kaarten en bet 25k uit. Phill insta raised All-in en Devilfish maakt de call.

Turn . River wat Devilfish de nutflush geeft en het startsein was voor Phil om weer los te gaan:

Hellmuth: "No he didn't!" cried Hellmuth. "This motherf***er--" "What are you doing, Fish?"

Devilfish: "How the f*** can I fold that?"

Hellmuth: "You're a f***ing moron. You know you're not supposed to call with that."

Toen Hellmuth van tafel stormde gaf Devilfish tekst en uitleg: "He shouldn't have called with ace-six-f***ing-king."
